I was lucky enough to stumble upon this movie when looking up John Leguizamo. The movie was just wonderful; a perfect balance of comedy, sweetness, and sass. Not only was the storyline good but the costumes were amazing. I loved watching each new scene. The actors were very believable. I'm a fan of Patrick Swayze, whether he is playing a man or a woman he creates this sighing affect on me. (if you've seen Dirty Dancing then you probably know what I mean). I've been a huge fan of this movie since it came out, so I can't say enough about it. It is at times hilarious and heartbreaking. It's a good forum for how lines are easily blurred between "outcasts" and "normals".

Heartwarming story that teaches us all that everyone, no matter their beliefs, dreams, and differences, are at their heart, all the same. And that sometimes getting "Lost" along the way is the best part of any journey. And Wesley Snipes in drag is worth the price of admission!

Patrick is a boy with a vivid imagination. While at the zoo his brother talks about how much bigger dinosaurs were than anything at the zoo. Patrick sees the dinosaurs his brother describes. They are attacking the alligators at the zoo. They are waiting at the stop light on the road home. A T Rex is following them home. He is worried about just how large they are. Can it reach the second floor? He is afraid. Once at home his brother reminds him that there are no more dinosaurs. Relief.

It is a great concept that builds a little tension thru the story. This makes it rather exciting. I can read it with that kind of scary voice. Then when we remember that dinos are extinct , whew!

This is a classic book. Every kid should have a copy. I highly recommend it.

This was my son's favorite book out of a large stack we just returned to the library. I'm thrilled I just found it at a consignment sale cause he was fascinated by the pictures and the actions of the dinosaurs. There were a couple nights reading it that we had to be more sing-songy through parts of the book, but he's not yet three so it's to be expected. The imaginative play is great, as is the brotherly relationship.

First, regarding the 3 stars -- the book itself is wonderful and deserves at least 5 stars, but this particular edition of the book (ISBN 0-440-84404-5) is crummy, and deserves 0 stars.

I borrowed the hardcover edition (ISBN 0-89919-406-0) of this title from the library, and we liked it so much I decided to buy a used one. The hardcover is out of print and was running around $20 used when I looked, so I went with this paperback edition.

Little did I know it was a crummy staple-bound book club edition. In addition to the cheap binding, the paper stock is also much cheaper than the harcover's paper, so the wonderful illustrations don't look as good. The library book isn't due back yet, so I have both here to compare them side by side. The paper on the staple-bound edition is also so thin that illustrations on the other side of some pages show through too much. On the plus side, the illustrations are the same size as in the hardcover.

Just now. I searched Amazon.com on the hardcover's ISBN (0-89919-406-0), and found them selling for pennies. I ordered one for one cent in excellent condition and not even ex-library. I don't know why that listing didn't show up in my original search a week or so ago, when I searched on the title.

If you are considering buying a used copy of this paperback, I urge you to search Amazon.com on "0-89919-406-0" and buy a used copy of that library hardcover instead.

Patrick tells his brother Hank of the times when Dinosaurs did all the work for their beloved humans, making them cars, roads, and houses. Although his brother Hank tries to correct and question Patrick, Patrick has an answer for everything, logical and intreguing.

The illustrations in the book are a delight as well. From cloud formations and star contellations in the shape of dinasaurs, to pictures of dinosaurs wearing clown make-up to put on a show.

"The Time of My Life" by Patrick Swayze and his wife Lisa Niemi is an inspirational and entertaining book about Patrick Swayze and Lisa Niemi's journey - hard times and good times, right up to his final heroic battle against cancer. The remarkable love the two had for each other shines through and it is very sad that he didn't get to see this book hit the shelves and know what kind of impact it will have on many who read it.

Many people know that Patrick met Lisa when he was 19 and she was 15 and attending dance lessons at his mother, Patsy Swayze's, dance studio. They married a few years later and were together right to his passing. It was a remarkable marriage, but definitely not without its trials and tribulations. Injuries, alcoholism, insecurities, anger, and wondering who he was all plagued Swayze at times, just as demons attack us all. It was refreshing to read that Swayze's life was not a bed of roses, even though at times is sure seemed like it to the public.

Obviously, people who are interest in Swayze are most likely interested because they enjoyed his movies. You might be a "Ghost" and "Dirty Dancing" fan, or maybe you prefer his macho action flicks such as "Roadhouse" and "Next of Kin." It doesn't matter, he discusses them all in this book, and you'll learn things you probably didn't know about the making of his films.

Reading the final pages is tough, because we know he didn't have many more days after writing that he was determined to have as many beautiful days together with Lisa as he possibly could. But I'm glad they left it like that, and didn't add something about his passing. We know he's gone, but I appreciated that right to the end he fought and lived, and most importantly loved, loved the person who he shared his life with and who stood by him in good times and bad. Patrick Swayze and Lisa Niemi have my utmost respect, and I consider them role models on how to endure and stay together, and how to continue to love even when others might have thrown in the towel.

For Patrick Swayze fans, this book is a must. It has some great pictures, entertaining stories, and shares honestly the life of one of Hollywood's favorite stars and portrays the love he held for Niemi, who he said about, "You are my woman, my lover, my mate and my lady. I've loved you forever, I love you now and I will love you forevermore." I wish forevermore would have been longer, but I'm grateful that they were able to complete this book as the final act of his career. Thank you Patrick and Lisa.

The Time of My Life by Patrick Swayze and Lisa Niemi, begins with Patrick telling how he found out he had pancreatic cancer, the range of emotions he experienced, and the determination to fight.

Growing up in Texas as the son of a self-made man, and a teacher/choreographer, Patrick was the second of five children. He was also a dare-devil at times, and full of energy, until a serious high school football injury threatened to end his dreams of becoming a dancer or sports figure. With the rugged grit that he is now known for, he fought through the painful injury, and recovered to become one of the most famous actor/dancers of our time.

Life was not always easy for this beautiful spirit, as you will read in this book, but in the end, I believe he became one of our own super-heroes. Told with grace, humor, and honesty, this is a must read for anyone who was touched by his brilliant life and career. It is sad that he didn't get to live to see its publication, but as he had said, he lived many lives in just this one, a life lived to its fullest.

He was a fine man and we will miss him.

If you ever wanted to get to know Patrick Swayze better, read this book. He takes us through his childhood, including stories of being beaten up in school because he was a ballet dancer. To look more macho, Patrick took up football. This had disastrous consequences and on Halloween night in 1970, Patrick's knee was destroyed in a football game. He fought his way back through tremendous pain, but this injury inevitably destroyed his hopes of becoming an Olympic gymnast and a professional ballet dancer. He refused to let these disappointments stop him, and worked on becoming an actor. At one point, Patrick and Lisa were completely broke. If it were not for an orange tree in the backyard of their apartment complex, they would not have had anything to eat. Patrick also tells of the tragedies in his life which include losing his father to a heart attack at age 57, losing his older sister to suicide in 1994, and losing their baby boy in the third month of pregnancy. Much of this book focuses on his career. He and Lisa did not originally like the Dirty Dancing script, but they made changes to it and really liked the finished product. There were also stories of how he and Jennifer Grey did not initially get along. What puzzled me was that even after Patrick achieved fame and fortune, he still struggled with depression. Although he was enormously talented, he felt inadequate. Working cheered him up, but he would get depressed when the filming was over. He worried a lot about being taken seriously as an actor, and about future roles. Drinking was his way of dealing with it, and that caused problems in his marriage. There was not too much focus on the cancer. He was so determined to beat it on some days, and was too tired on other days. One thing that rings true in this book is that Patrick and Lisa were soulmates who truly needed each other. Patrick was a great guy, and everyone will miss him. Rest in peace, Patrick.

Competition from the likes of Cary Grant, Robert Donat and Robert Montgomery keeps Swayze's ghost from entering the first ranks of those who have played ectoplasmic manifestations but still and all, he leads a good cast in a well-played comedy. Having no idea of what the competition was in 1990, I am puzzled but not annoyed by the Academy awards earned by Whoopi Goldberg and by the author of the screenplay. ("Original screenplay" is what it reads but there is really nothing original here; no criticism intended, traditional, can be, and is here, good for an evening's entertainment.)

Demi Moore is an appealingly androgynous partner to Swayze's physically and verbally semi-articulate lover, with Whoops Goldberg suitably energetic as the medium who bewilderingly finds herself talking to real ghosts, while Tony Goldwyn does alright as the best friend, though he might have provided a bit more romantic competition to the ghost. Most other roles were stereotypes, some well handled by talented character actors; for example; it was nice to see Phil Leeds, a fixture in TV at the time the film was shot, adding a few shots of flavoring to a bit part.

Over-all the film should please many and bore few. It provides a couple of hours of fun without significance or gritty reality.

This movie is one of my all time favorites and I had to watch it once again when I heard the news about Patrick Swayze. Wheen I saw him interviewed earlier this year he had so much grace and strength.....

Here he plays a man who is killed, but like Ghost Whisperer, he is not able to leave until unleft matters are taken care of with his wife, Demi Moore. Whoopi Goldberg is wonderful as the psychic who brings the two together.

A wondrful love story that is also more - there is tension, mystery and comedy as as Swayze works to protect Moore from a plot that has unfolded to obtain money. A classic movie that should be owned by any movie fan and one I will always enjoy.

Ghost is a love story that will haunt you long after you eject the disc from the player. The story of Sam and Molly's eternal love will rekindle the flames of romance even in the coldest of hearts. It is not a complex story by any means, but it is full of tender moments. Sam is murdered by a gangster on the instructions of his best friend Carl, who wants to get his hands on millions of dollars in an account handled by Sam at the bank they are working for.

Sam becomes a ghost, learns Carl's real intentions, finds a medium to communicate with Molly and save her. Sam's `life' as a ghost is shown in great detail - how he learns to go through and move physical objects is given special attention. Existence can be difficult, but never dull for a ghost, if Ghost is to be believed. An obvious bonus for the film makers was that they didn't have to spend much on Patrick Swayze's wardrobe - he's wearing the same red t-shirt for practically the entire film.

Ghost has special effects that were considered groundbreaking at the time. These could have been done more effectively today (especially the scenes of bad people being dragged to hell), but that does not take anything away from the effects of Ghost. But no one will remember Ghost for the effects - it is the elaborate romantic sequences that matter. Demi Moore's and Patrick Swayze's pottery scene (to the strains of "I hunger for your touch"), the coin-lifting scene which convinces Molly that Sam is `alive' and the romantic scene in the final moments when Sam uses Oda Mae's body to `touch and feel' Molly are all outstanding. The film is also a full-blown comedy in a way, with the verbal exchanges between Sam and Oda Mae being the highlight.

The acting is superb throughout. Moore and Swayze are the ideal couple. Their facial expressions tell you what love is all about. Tony Goldwyn is superb as the villainous `friend' Carl. Whoopi Goldberg as Oda Mae is nothing short of excellent - this film would not have been the same without her. I remember one of her lines particularly well - "have a nice life, have a nice death, bye". While no one would mistake this film for a philosophical lesson on life and death, I did ponder the question `is there life after death ? '. The film makers have apparently drawn inspiration from numerous accounts of Near Death Experiences.

As for the blu-ray, it is a great presentation. It may not be up to the standards of latest day and date releases, but do bear in mind that this film is 20 years old. It is the best presentation of Ghost I have seen this side of a D1 master, so one cannot complain. The sound too is very good. One more thing - apart from a few instances of swearing, there is no profanity here as far as I can remember.

This is a film that any film fan should have in his or her collection.

Do not listen to the ridiculous 1, 2 & 3 star reviews. The dancing is breathtaking and no one in this film looks old, ancient or anywhere near that ignorant description. Any normal person would like to look this good, be so fit and be able to use their body in this way. I am a dancer and I can tell you that these dancers are at the top of their class. For those who gave criticisms what are you doing with yourself? You try it! This is an art/independent film. If you are not into this type of production, don't watch it. Anyone that loves ballet will appreciate the skill of these dancers. Even if you are not into ballet, but are an athlete, I think you will at least appreciate the control and skill that these magnificent dancers have. Most 25 year olds would be happy to look like these athletes.

Thoroughly enjoyable. Patrick Swayze more or less impersonates his own life in this movie. The acting is not as good but the dance performances more than make up for it. The interaction between Patrick Swayze and his real-life wife are interesting throughout the movie. I would recommend it to anyone who likes movies about ballet, comparable to the movie "Turning Point" starring Anne Bancroft, Shirley Mclaine and Mikhail Baryshnikov.

I've been a huge fan of this movie since it came out, so I can't say enough about it. It is at times hilarious and heartbreaking. It's a good forum for how lines are easily blurred between "outcasts" and "normals".

Heartwarming story that teaches us all that everyone, no matter their beliefs, dreams, and differences, are at their heart, all the same. And that sometimes getting "Lost" along the way is the best part of any journey. And Wesley Snipes in drag is worth the price of admission!

Ghost is a love story that will haunt you long after you eject the disc from the player. The story of Sam and Molly's eternal love will rekindle the flames of romance even in the coldest of hearts. It is not a complex story by any means, but it is full of tender moments. Sam is murdered by a gangster on the instructions of his best friend Carl, who wants to get his hands on millions of dollars in an account handled by Sam at the bank they are working for.

Sam becomes a ghost, learns Carl's real intentions, finds a medium to communicate with Molly and save her. Sam's `life' as a ghost is shown in great detail - how he learns to go through and move physical objects is given special attention. Existence can be difficult, but never dull for a ghost, if Ghost is to be believed. An obvious bonus for the film makers was that they didn't have to spend much on Patrick Swayze's wardrobe - he's wearing the same red t-shirt for practically the entire film.

Ghost has special effects that were considered groundbreaking at the time. These could have been done more effectively today (especially the scenes of bad people being dragged to hell), but that does not take anything away from the effects of Ghost. But no one will remember Ghost for the effects - it is the elaborate romantic sequences that matter. Demi Moore's and Patrick Swayze's pottery scene (to the strains of "I hunger for your touch"), the coin-lifting scene which convinces Molly that Sam is `alive' and the romantic scene in the final moments when Sam uses Oda Mae's body to `touch and feel' Molly are all outstanding. The film is also a full-blown comedy in a way, with the verbal exchanges between Sam and Oda Mae being the highlight.

The acting is superb throughout. Moore and Swayze are the ideal couple. Their facial expressions tell you what love is all about. Tony Goldwyn is superb as the villainous `friend' Carl. Whoopi Goldberg as Oda Mae is nothing short of excellent - this film would not have been the same without her. I remember one of her lines particularly well - "have a nice life, have a nice death, bye". While no one would mistake this film for a philosophical lesson on life and death, I did ponder the question `is there life after death ? '. The film makers have apparently drawn inspiration from numerous accounts of Near Death Experiences.

As for the blu-ray, it is a great presentation. It may not be up to the standards of latest day and date releases, but do bear in mind that this film is 20 years old. It is the best presentation of Ghost I have seen this side of a D1 master, so one cannot complain. The sound too is very good. One more thing - apart from a few instances of swearing, there is no profanity here as far as I can remember.

This is a film that any film fan should have in his or her collection.
